JH Designs is my company that I established as an umbrella for my freelance design Activities. Among my accomplishments:
• Created and sold 19 custom designs to Glabman-Himes / Blumenthal Mills upholstery fabrics.
• Created a line of knitted, crocheted kimono jackets and handbags.
• Designed and knitted period handbags / tatted lace for The Backcountry Peddler, a small business catering to the needs of historic event re-enactors.
• Creating and marketing pencil and watercolor drawings on eBay.

My Inspiration for my watercolor and pencil art comes from many places...

The history of print fabrics, weaving, period clothing, and commercial textiles is fascinating.
-
The weaving patterns and symbols in Native American Art.
-
The designs from the turn of the last century in Art Nouveau prints and advertising, Art Deco architecture, and the Arts & Crafts movement in Interior Design are also very important.
I see repeat patterns & design in everything around me. I love being outdoors...in any kind of weather. I love hiking, working in the garden, and walking or riding taking photographs of the old houses, farms and the land around me. The history of a place is inspiring to me.
